In 1963 she began her own cooking show The French Chef, produced at WGBH. In 1961, as a recent graduate of the Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris, Julia Child co-authored the book Mastering the Art of French Cooking and launched her career of educating Americans in delicious ways with food. Pour into a teen or soup cups and decorate with herbs. Remove from heat just before serving, and stir in the cream or butter spoonfuls. 2 to 3 tablespoons minced parsley or chives.1/3 cup heavy cream or 2 to 3 tablespoons softened butter.Set aside uncovered until just before serving, then reheat to the simmer. Mash the vegetables in the soup with a fork, or pass the soup through a food mill.Either simmer the vegetables, water, and salt together, partially covered, for 40 to 50 minutes until vegetables are tender or cook under 15 pounds pressure for 5 minutes, release pressure, and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes to develop the flavor.3 cups thinly sliced leeks or yellow onions.3 to 4 cups peeled potatoes sliced or diced.A 3- to 4-quart saucepan or pressure cooker. ![]() Hot or cold, most French soups are very easy, and can be made ready hours before serving time. Another delicious soup is cream of watercress with its final enrichment of egg yolks. It is also versatile: add watercress and you have a potage au cresson, or chill it, lace it with cream and you have vichyssoise. The old French standby, leek and potato soup, tastes so good you cannot believe it is nothing but vegetables, water and salt simmered together. I don't know if that is still happening, but out of habit I find myself check marking the boxes in the order that I would want them installed. In this busy, can-opener world, a homemade soup often seems like a new taste sensation. I also recall a weird glitch in an earlier version of Apple Configurator where it seemed that it would install the configuration profiles in the order that I check marked the boxes. So you might want to try that on the problem iPads. I couldn't find a "fix" for these other than manually resetting and trying again (which worked). I recall having the issue before where some iPads displayed "Done" in a few seconds (which I knew wasn't right). I can simply check or uncheck the apps on the Apps tab to install or remove apps from the iPads. I have never had to unsupervise and re-supervise to add more apps. When that was complete, I added other profiles (including the provisioning profile) and apps and clicked "Refresh." It worked fine. To get around it, I did the WiFi profile all by itself (no other profiles or apps). I have had problems in the past where I was trying to install the WiFi profile as a Configuration Profile at the same time as the Casper Provisioning Profile. ![]() I click Refresh and they all get updated. I select the various Configuration Profiles (including the Casper Provisioning Profile) as well as the apps that I want to install on the iPads. I then click Prepare.Īfter all are Prepared, I see these iPads under the Supervise tab. Next to the Restore tab, I select the backup that I made of the "master" iPad. Julia Child revolutionized American cuisine through her PBS cooking shows such as The French Chef, Master Chefs, etc. On the Prepare tab, I give the iPads a name and place a checkmark to number then sequentially. When the "master" iPad backup is complete, I unplug the "master" iPad and plug in other new iPads. Once I get to the Home Screen, I arrange icons, set up Safari bookmarks, enable the restriction to prevent removing apps, and set up the wallpaper. I then run through the setup screens on the iPad adding WiFi, etc. I use Apple Configurator and Supervise it. I'm using Mac OS X 10.7.4 with Apple Configurator 1.1.2 and Casper 8.6 and thought I'd let you know how I'm doing it. ![]()
